As the Marketing Manager for Turner Content Licensing, you’ll be doing all of the above, and much more.

The Content Licensing Team is responsible for the licensing of Turner-controlled programmes to third party broadcasters and platforms in EMEA. The central team, based in London, supports a wider team of licensing and distribution executives operating from local offices throughout EMEA. The licensing of Turner’s programmes to third parties is a significant and growing revenue stream and an important part of the company’s commercial strategy. The central team plays a leadership role in devising and communicating best practice and supporting the local licensing teams with content information, commercial expertise and pre- and post-sale marketing support.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Marketing

  • Producing the Programme Licensing team’s sales materials briefing; writing and editing printed and digital brochures, client email newsletters or other physical sales materials.
  • Overseeing the budget for all marketing-related activities and approving spend within the agreed marketing budgets, tracking expenditure with support of finance team.
  • Drafting templated Programme Sales Presentations for licensing teams to adapt and use in client meetings; including programme information, research analysis and press reviews.
  • Working with theTurner International Rights & Media team to secure the sales marketing materials required by the EMEA Sales team
  • Owning the team’s screening website, TurnerVIP; ensuring it is updated with the latest content and information.
  • Planning, organising and managing Turner’s presence at key sales events in collaboration with the Events Coordinator; MipTV and Mipcom in Cannes, including supporting marketing and advertising activity.
  • Planning and organising periodic screening events in London and supporting events or festivals in other local markets (eg. Berlinale, Series Mania, etc).
  • Providing local teams with marketing assets and PR materials to support their clients’ own consumer marketing activities.
  • Supporting multi-territory clients directly with marketing assets to them for their own marketing inativies and manage required Turner approvals of clients’ campaigns.
  • Co-ordination of client PR activities with TurnerPR teams e.g. accreditation for journalists at events or arranging interviews with programme talent

Content Information

  • Liaising with the Turner International Rights & Media team in Atlanta, who manage the distribution of information and content from the US studios to the International organisation
  • Acting as the point of contact regarding content queries and evangelising the merits of the specific programmes to the licensing teams
  • Overseeing theContent Licensing Coordinator to regularly confirm and update the content pipeline information which is supplied to the local sales teams; e.g. new titles, changes to longer term forecasts, info on returning series and availablily and US air dates
  • Screening all new series and preparing compelling summaries and selling points for series to be shared with licensing teams and potential clients.
  • Developing a knowledge of the key programming from each of the Turner studios – particularly TNT/ TBS and truTV and share this knowledge with EMEA local sales teams (particularly research) to support sales activity.
  • Management of theContent Licensing Coordinator, to effect the transition to a new Content Rights Management system

Knowledge and experience required

Essential:

  • Experience in a trade marketing role, preferably at a studio, production company or entertainment brand; with responsibility for planning and executing marketing plans
  • Experience in copy-writing, with the ability to draft clear, concise and compelling marketing copy for all marketing materials (printed materials, presentations, website, emails, etc).
  • Knowledge of the evolving EMEA media landscape, the key players, services and content propositions
  • Experience of working in an international team and matrix structure
  • A passion for television and TV programming
  • Clear and confident communication skills; able to present in an engaging way to internal teams
  • Ability to accurately manage cost budgets
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple requests in a calm and efficient manner
  • Adept at building productive cross-functional relationships with a wide range of people from different countries
  • Process driven, with excellent attention to detail and ability to design, own and implement defined processes.
  • Comfortable taking initiative and working autonomously Desirable:
