Primary Purpose of the Position

The Executive Director and strategic Human Resources Business Partner, EMEA plays a key role in maximizing the function’s contribution in the region: directly by owning the relationship with key business stakeholders as a consultant and cooperative partner, through leading a team of HR Generalists in advising and managing individual or team based issues, and through collaborating with specialist functions and other regional HR leads in addressing HR and talent challenges at the organizational level.

The role partners closely with the EMEA President and his executive team, influencing and steering HR strategy and implementation of talent initiatives that are aligned with shared organisational objectives and support the region’s culture and long-term strategic business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Insights, strategy, and solutions

  • Develop and align HR strategy, goals and priorities to overall business strategy and objectives
  • Partner with HR specialist functions and business leaders to develop organisational priorities and initiatives
  • Responsible for the efficient delivery and evaluation of on-going, annual and planned one-off HR programmes and developing action plans to mitigate risks resulting from the implementation
  • Oversee continual improvement and simplification of HR solutions and processes Relationship Management & Consultation

  • Support leaders on major HR projects and relevant business issues, and provide guidance to the business and managers

  • Confidently advise and challenge leaders on opinions and points of view
  • Coach and build capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre-empt organisational issues
  • Design and deliver innovative solutions utilising HR expertise and insights
  • Resolve escalated conflicts among stakeholders, build consensus and settle disputes on policy and practice decisions
  • Establish oneself and the HR team as a credible and trustworthy resource for all employees
  • Maintain confident and up to date knowledge of European employment laws, standards, legislation and emerging trends that may affect organisational behaviours and practice
  • Adopt a practical and innovative approach to maintain advanced knowledge of key industry and organisation metrics
  • Foster a culture of inclusiveness,openness and honestywithin the organisation along with championing organisational values and diversity

Organisation Design and Development

  • Ensure the organisation is appropriately designed to achieve strategic ambitions now and in the future
  • Partner with leaders to evaluate and assess the capacity and capability of the organisation and design interventions to drive the Turner culture, behaviours, skills and performance
  • Lead and influence on-going change and transformation throughout the business
  • Develop business cases for redesigning organisation structures, plan and implement design changes support executives in leading through change programmes
  • Implement and audit practices to ensure global/cultural sensitivities are respected
  • Promote the value of diversity and inclusion Resourcing and talent planning

  • Ensure the organisation has the right resources, capability and talent to achieve strategic ambitions

  • Develop and lead talent acquisition and talent management strategy and create an action plan for managing talent within the confines of the labour market; demonstrate a working knowledge of the labour markets within the EMEA region and its relation to organisational success
  • Lead and coordinate regular internal and external talent reviews/succession planning across the organisation Leadership & Navigation

  • Contribute to the development of the HR strategy and translate goals into operating plans

  • Communicate strategy and initiatives to leaders and HR team and take ownership of HR’s messages to key stakeholders
  • Oversee the communication strategy for Turner’s culture transformation initiatives across the region in collaboration with corporate communications
  • Solicit feedback and buy-in on HR initiatives from organisational stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong leadership competencies
  • Set clear goals and targets, monitor progress and hold people to account
  • Develop own and others' HR capability to deliver against organisational needs
  • Develop business acumen of the team

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or other related field required
  • Experience inbudget and financial planning, management and monitoring
  • Experience in developing business cases and the tools and frameworks to support this
  • Work experience in a fast paced multinational business environment required
  • Industry experience (FMCG, High Tech, Media) preferred
  • Act with commercial mind-set and strong point of view of the organisation and what will drive sustained organisation performance
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to interpret data, benchmarks, HR and business metrics and use to make recommendations and critical decisions
  • Ability to translate professional and industry insights into action and apply these to influence leaders and decisions
  • Broad principle knowledge of relevant jurisdictional employment laws, regulations and policies
  • Demonstrate and foster continuous learning approach, showing genuine interest and curiosity in new ideas, trends and opportunities
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and distil complex data into distinct, clear, concise concepts others can understand
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of organisational priorities whilst maintaining the ability and confidence to make effective decisions in the absence of complete information
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with key stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently, navigating internal politics with skill
  • Applied knowledge of OD theory and OD planning experience
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and deep insight into own style and impact; adept at reading and influencing a variety of people
  • Demonstrate courage to challenge and hold own position determinedly when appropriate
  • Skilled in managing conflict between personal values and those of the organisation
  • Able to handle emotive issues objectively and with sensitivity
  • Fluency in English and ideally at least one other major world language
